The Team
H. S. Eugene Fung, MD, FRCPC, FACR, is the Director
Rheumatologist at Arthritis & Osteoporosis Clinic Research
Center of Central Texas.He was qualified from National
University of Taiwan. His internship and Residency were with
University of Toronto at Mount Sinai Hospital, and He did a CARS
Rheumatology Fellowship with University of Toronto at various
hospitals including Hospital for Sick children. He was the
Director of Rheumatic Disease Unit Windsor Western Hospital
Centre, IODE before the relocation to US.
He was a
Clinical Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at the University
of Texas Southwestern Medical Center before the transition to
McClennan County Education and Research Foundation as Voluntary
Faculty. He was chosen by the residents as recipient of the
Aynesworth Outstanding Faculty Award in 2014.
He
served as the NMSK task force and is Voluntary Faculty for the
Texas Christian University-University of North Texas Medical
School.Dr. Fung is certified in rheumatology and internal
medicine, by both the American Board and the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
He is a Founding
Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and a Fellow of
the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.He is a
member of the ASBMR (American Society of Bone and Mineral
Research) and GRAPPA (Group of Research & Assessment of
Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis). He is also certified by ISCD
(the International Society of Clinical Densitometry).
He has been chosen as Best Doctors of America since 1994.Dr.
Fung's interests include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic
arthritis, spondylitis, lupus, dermatomyositis, and Sjogren's
osteoporosis, gout, osteoarthritis, central pain (sensitization or
amplification).
He has published articles related to
osteoporosis, lupus and gout, and has participated in numerous
clinical research studies in the field of Rheumatology and has
lectured on the subjects of arthritis and osteoporosis in the United
States, Canada, Taiwan and China.
Dr. Bradly “Alex” Kimbrough is board-certified in both
rheumatology and internal medicine. He was raised in Belton,
Texas, and graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University,
completing his degree through the Honors Program. He
subsequently graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and
completed residency and fellowship at one of the world’s premier
medical institutions, Mayo Clinic. During his rheumatology
fellowship at Mayo Clinic, he was awarded the Philip S. Hench
Award for excellence in clinical performance, teaching, and
research. He completed an additional year of research during
fellowship with a primary focus on rheumatoid arthritis. Dr.
Kimbrough is passionate about education and trains both medical
students and family medicine residents.
Dr. Kimbrough has completed additional training and certifications for diagnostic and procedural musculoskeletal ultrasound as well as bone densitometry. He has multiple first author publications in rheumatoid arthritis, myositis, vasculitis, interstitial lung disease, and sarcoidosis, and has presented his research at several national and international conferences. He is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians.
Outside of work, Dr. Kimbrough enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Favorite family activities include telling bedtime stories, reading, visiting state and national parks, and being silly with his kids. He also enjoys watching baseball and rooting for the Baylor Bears.
Megan Shiroma graduated from the Texas Tech Physician
Assistant program in 2016 and subsequently worked in family
medicine in Groesbeck, Texas. This opportunity enabled her to
further deepen her breadth of clinical knowledge, leading to
excellent patient care in family medicine as well as future
clinical roles. She then transitioned to Rheumatology and has
been working as a physician assistant in the Arthritis &
Osteoporosis Clinic since 2017. She is fluent in Spanish and
English.
Rheumatology is challenging but very rewarding for her, which she attributes in large part to the often gracious, humble, hard-working patient population she serves.
She enjoys traveling, eating, and being outdoors. She aspires to improve her East coast swing dancing.
Srijana Baniya graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at
Arlington in 2011 and subsequently worked as a nurse in
several specialties including oncology, cardiology, neurology,
and orthopedics. Then, she completed her Master of Science in
Nursing degree in 2017 and attained a certification as a
family nurse practitioner. She was awarded the Top Family
Nurse Practitioner of 2022 by Today's Nurse.
After working for 7 years in pain medicine, Srijana joined the Arthritis & Osteoporosis Clinic of Waco in 2024. She is committed to professional growth and believes holistic care and patient empowerment via education and health promotion are key elements to improving patient’s quality of life.
She has been inducted as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the Golden Key Honor Society, and the National College Honor Society. She is an active member of the Central Texas Nurse Practitioners organization and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Fun facts: Srijana is originally from Nepal. She is fluent in English, Nepali and Hindi. She has two boys and an Aussie. She loves being outdoors with her husband and kids. Her hobbies include shopping, watching movies, cooking Nepali food, and reading. She is guilty of spoiling her dog!
